Una Cloete was responsible for our OUTREACH projects. Twenty ladies from Stellenbosch and Somerset West, who have little knowledge of patchwork and quilting, were invited to have the opportunity to learn more.
Marline Turner and Jeanette Botha offered to give classes that would inspire and encourage these ladies to seek further knowledge. We wish to thank Simply Stitches, Benartex and Mettler for their generous donations of fabric and notions towards the workshops.
Geraldine Pheiffer who was awarded a Highly Commended prize for her quilt in the Outreach/Share and Care category.
Lydia Titus who was awarded Second Prize for her quilt in the Outreach/Share and Care Category. Geraldine and Lydia are both from the Ravensmead Outreach Group, run by Annamarie Gillmer.
St Savior Quilt Group with the co-ordinator of Xairu Quilt Group in Suurbraak.
Other competition winners from the Outreach/Share and Care Category were First Prize to Suraya Adams, Third Prize to Dolphina Thompson and another Highly Commended went to the Prowse School of Art Outreach Group. (Unfortunately, we don’t have photos for them as yet!)
